There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss college in some way. Not the parties or all the “good times”. I miss the ordinary moments. I miss the free time we all had to simply be. To get to know each other as human beings. I miss being allowed the time to develope real intimacy to a point that allows for love. Isn’t that what we are all missing most? It isn’t health care or a job or a good retirement plan or a clean environment. Those are all just symptoms of a larger lack of basic, ordinary, everyday love. Without love we are nothing. And we can only have real love for ourselves when we begin to notice and love others. But first we have to pick our heads up and start to look at each other, maybe for the first time. No one else can do that for us. We each have to make a decision to start to live differently. To care. To see ourselves in another and begin to talk to ourselves. It’s that easy. And that incredibly hard.
